Okay, I need to tell you about something I stumbled across this week, because it’s the kind of thing that makes you want to grab a friend and say, “wait, did you know about this?!”
Here’s my confession first. I am an audiobook girl through and through. Give me a good narrator and I can walk, clean, or cook for hours and never notice the time passing. A few of my favorites are Sarah Zimmerman, Cecily White, and Caroline Hewitt…but my favorite is Aimee Lilly. She narrates my Discerning God’s Best series and brings my characters to life.
Even though I prefer an audiobook, I support fellow authors by buying the eBook instead. It’s the easiest and cheapest option. I can pull up the book on my phone and read wherever I am or whenever I have a few minutes.
The catch is my Kindle app keeps filling up with titles I want to read but rarely have time to sit down with.
So imagine my excitement when I found out Amazon has a tool that lets you upgrade a book you already own to the audiobook version for a fraction of the price.
It’s called Matchmaker, and here’s how it works.
What It Actually Does
Amazon scans the Kindle library tied to your account and checks which titles also have an audiobook edition. If a match exists, it shows you the audio version at a special upgrade price, sometimes up to 80% off, because you already paid for the book once.
A few things worth knowing before you check it out.
It only shows books YOU ALREADY OWN. This isn’t a browsing tool for discovering new titles. It pulls straight from your personal library, so every match is something you’ve already purchased that now has an audiobook version.
Everyone sees something different. Because it’s scanning your account, my page looks nothing like yours. Your list is built from your purchases.
The discount is real. Audible genuinely drops the price for readers who already own the eBook.
Why I’m Excited About This
All those titles I’ve bought and never had time to read might have a cheap upgrade sitting there waiting for me. Now I can multitask and finally listen while I work, instead of letting them sit unread.

Oh my goodness!! I feel this information might be life-transforming!! How did I not know this before? It looks like I have several hundred books I could do this for.
Oh my goodness! I think I will find this information be life transforming. I just checked and I have hundreds of books I could do this for
I was shocked as well. And the fun part was that some are brand new, so that means if I check back later, I might have new ones to add!
