My knees found the floor of my bedroom today, and not because I fell. I knelt because standing couldn’t hold what I needed to say.
This isn’t a devotional about Ephesians 3:14-21. This is a prayer written straight to you, the one reading these words right now, wherever you happen to be sitting or standing or lying awake.
Paul did the same thing in Ephesians 3. Jewish men stood to pray, with hands lifted toward heaven. Paul broke that posture on purpose by dropping to his knees. Something about what he needed to ask for the Ephesians couldn’t be said standing up.
Prayer For Strength In Your Inner Being
I am praying God reaches into the place inside you that nobody else can see and plants strength there. Not the kind that gets you through a hard moment. The kind that holds when a diagnosis comes back different than you hoped, when the phone call with your child or spouse ends the wrong way, when today carries more weight than a whole year should.
I am praying you stop treating Christ like a guest and start living like family. He already moved in. He said He would never leave, never once look for the door. I am praying you hand Him the key to the room you keep locked. The one with the habit you hide. The memory you reroute around. The fear you smile past at church every single week.
Prayer For Roots And Ground In Love
I am praying you get rooted like a tree and anchored like a building, so love holds you the way roots hold soil through a storm nobody warned you was coming.
I am praying you catch some measure of how wide this love actually runs. Wide enough to cover what happened years ago or just yesterday, the thing you have never told anyone. Long enough to outlast the divorce, the diagnosis, the wayward child, the silence you’ve been living inside for months. High enough to reach the version of you that quit praying because no one seemed to be listening. Deep enough to find you exactly where you’re hiding right now.
I am praying God fills you with everything He is. Not because you found a way to deserve it. Because His love keeps stretching what you’re able to hold of Him, a little further the longer you know Him.
Prayer For More Than You Can Ask Or Imagine
And I am praying you remember this while you’re waiting on Him to move. He does more than you ask. More than you could think up on your best day, with your biggest imagination, in your bravest prayer. And He does it through power already at work inside you this minute. Not power you have to go find somewhere else.
I don’t know what today handed you. I don’t know which line in this prayer just landed too close to be comfortable.
I just know I prayed it for you before I knew your name.
